Fix missing Layered navigation in Magento
If you find that when you look at your Magento powered e-commerce site and all your layered navigation sub categories have vanished! Don’t panic.
Simply log onto your back end System > cache management > Layered Navigation Indices > rebuild now.
hey presto all should be well again.

Ever have this happen? I occasionally get SOME of the layered navigation elements to appear but not others. For example, “Categories” shows up, but “Price” does not. However, refreshing the page can make everything all better, or sometimes a different combination of elements appears … and sometimes they are all absent!

thank you soooooo much for this tip. I have spent hours trying to figure out what happened to the layered navigation on a site I am working on. I mean HOURS! and I cannot believe what a quick and easy fix that was! clearly I am a newbie to Magento but you learn through experience and what an experience that was!
